The Korean Australian Community Support Incorporation (KACS) offers an annual scholarship to Australian Media students to visit Korea and experience their culture, media and military.
This year I have been chosen for the program to visit Korea in July along with 9 other media students from Australia. The selection was based on a cover letter, resume, academic transcript and a portfolio of my writing work.
It’s an opportunity I never expected to be offered and I cannot wait for the experience!
Korea is not the typical bucket list destination for the majority of Australians and I really have little knowledge of their culture and customs but I am very excited to find out!
At the end of May the Korean Cultural Centre in Sydney held an information evening for the 2017 recipients. We heard stories from previous students, learnt a little bit more about Korean culture and sampled Korean treats complete with a delicious dinner of Bibimbap.
The countdown is on to 4 July!
